Challenge

Industrial organisations need to understand and reduce energy use across diverse processes, assets and operating environments. Conventional energy auditing can be difficult to scale across sectors and may not provide consistent, data-driven identification of inefficiencies and improvement opportunities.

Solution

The project will create a common AI-based auditing framework that can be applied across multiple industrial sectors. The approach will use energy and operational data to support structured analysis of energy performance, identify potential inefficiencies and generate actionable insights for audit processes. The innovation lies in combining artificial intelligence with a reusable cross-sector auditing methodology rather than relying only on manual, site-specific assessments.

Main activities

The consortium will define the requirements for a multi-sector industrial energy auditing framework and identify the data, process and reporting needs common across industrial environments. It will develop and validate AI-based methods for analysing energy performance, detecting inefficiencies and supporting audit recommendations. The work will also include integration into a usable framework and assessment of its applicability across different industrial sectors.

Consortium status
  • INEA d.o.o. — System integrator

Partners sought
  • System integrator — Leads the project and owns the industrial automation integration, system architecture and exploitation route. Provides the core platform connection to plant systems, coordinates technical delivery, and ensures the solution is deployable as a commercial industrial energy-management product.
  • AI provider — Develops the baseline modelling, anomaly detection, attribution engine and recommendation logic. Should demonstrate strong experience with industrial time-series data, production-context modelling and explainable AI suitable for operators and energy managers.
  • Measurement partner — Connects electricity, gas, steam, water and production data sources at pilot sites, ensuring data quality, sensor/meter integration and secure data pipelines. Supports measurement integration and practical deployment under real industrial constraints.
  • Industrial pilot — Provides real plant data, operational context, validation environments and feedback from energy managers/operators. At least 2 pilots are needed for transnational validation, but 3 sectoral pilots are ideal to support the multi-sector claim across food processing, pharma and petrochemicals.
  • Energy auditor — Defines the audit methodology, M&V approach, ISO 50001 evidence requirements and CSRD/ESG reporting logic. This role increases credibility of the auditing and compliance claims, but can be merged into an experienced technology or measurement partner if they have proven audit expertise.
